How did you two meet?
We met 10 years ago in Juneau, Alaska while doing a year of volunteer work with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. We were placed in a house with 8 people (all women and Joe!) and lived there for one year…we have been together ever since.

and the inspiration behind your groom cake?
Joe will begin a neurosurgery residency in July, so I thought what would be more fitting for a groom’s cake than a brain with red velvet? It was a surprise for him.

Megan – if you could live one moment over again from your wedding day what would it be…..
Standing with Joe looking into the courtyard filled with all of the people we love and who love us…it is a feeling I will never forget.

Joe – if you could live one moment over again from your wedding day what would it be…..
Saying my vows to Megan was one of the highlights of my life. For me, marriage is about the vows.

One word to describe the married life?
Limbo…Joe and I have been living apart since the wedding! He is in California in our new home, and I am finishing my doctoral work in MA. Two more weeks to go!

How did you two meet? Unofficially our eyes locked in library while studying for finals in law school, but we didn’t meet officially meet until the Fall Semester End of Finals Party . Christina hugged and tackled a mutual friend to the ground in front of John. John just had to meet the crazy, little girl in the vintage leather furry coat.

What is the story of the proposal?
We bought a new house in late December that didn’t come with grass in the backyard. So a couple days after New Years, John laid sod in our backyard. It was the night of the Alabama bowl game, and we were having cocktails and grilling out in our new backyard. John kept trying to get me to put on this Alabama baseball hat that was sitting on the table. Finally when I picked it up, the ring was underneath and he dropped to one knee in our new grass to propose.

Christina – if you could live one moment over again from your wedding day what would it be…..
I can’t pick just one moment, because the entire day was one on-going moment – from waking up with my girls, crying with mom seeing my grandmother’s wedding dress so beautifully used to wrap my bouquet, listening to everyone laughing at us and laughing at ourselves during our ceremony “mess-ups”, dancing with my dad to the Beatles, our private 3 course dinner for two in the Lake House’s kitchen, singing along to “Sweet Home Alabama” and some Better Than Ezra song at the top of our lungs while dancing with our friends and family, to ending the night having cocktails till 4:00 a.m. with amazing family and friends.

John – if you could live one moment over again from your wedding day what would it be…
When we arrived at the lakefront for pics after the ceremony we found ourselves waiting for our apparently lost wedding party. We sat for several minutes before suggesting to each other to call the best man, maid of honor, etc. Great idea had the Best Man and Maid of Honor not had both of our cell phones! After several failed attempts with the driver and his phone we located our lost party who were patiently waiting for us several blocks over, but now en route. With champagne and flute’s in hand, Christina and I walked the lakefront finding a secluded bench near the oaks that overlooked the water. We sat down and toasted our perfect day, memories to come, and each other ….. coolest 20 minutes of the day!

One word to describe the married life? Its all the good stuff and then some…
