Alison -One word to Describe Rick: Dedicated
Rick – One word to describe Alison: Giving

How did you two meet? We met at the zoo where we both work.
What’s the engagement story? We had a big day hike planned, but just as we were starting Rick realized the keys were locked in the car. We were in the middle of nowhere with no cell service and had very few options, but after a couple of hours of trying to break into the car we were finally successful! We went on our way, found a few beautiful waterfalls, the last of which Rick pulled a ring out of his pocket and proposed.

Tell us about your wedding day and what you planned:
It was very important for both of us that our wedding day was fun for our guests and reflected us as a couple. Much of it was pulled together with the help of family and friends! We created our centerpieces from milk glass pieces and doilies we found at numerous antique shops. My mother hand-made our invitations, the flower girl bouquets and made our wedding cake which on our big day rested on an antique doily that belonged to my grandmother. I wore a ring that my grandfather gave my grandmother when they were younger. We provided a polaroid camera for our guests to have fun with and flip flops for those with tired feet. There were so many details that came together better than I could have dreamed. One of my favorite things we did was our guest book. We found an antique dictionary, had our guests circle a word that reflected their feelings about our wedding day and sign it. It was so much fun going through it and it will be something we will cherish forever.

How was the cake?
The cake was so cool! I’m have never been a fan of traditional wedding cake so from early on we knew we wanted to do something a bit different. The idea came to me one night when Rick was eating a rice krispie treat, our favorite! I called my mom and told her that I wanted to make our own wedding cake, a rice krispie treat wedding cake! She thought I was crazy, but quickly warmed up to the idea and she did an amazing job. It couldn’t have turned out more perfect!

Rick- What will you remember most about your wedding day? The moment I saw Alison for the first time at the end of the aisle.

Alison – Do you have a favorite memory from the day? I have so many. My cousins officiated our ceremony and it was so unbelievably special. Our first dance was magical and dancing with my dad was one of the sweetest moments of my life.

One word to describe the married life?
