John & Liz : Jerez de la Frontera {Spain}

Liz : One word to describe John :  Loving
John: One word to describe Liz : Amazing

How did you two meet?     We met when I moved back to New Orleans in August 2010 upon immediately joining a sommelier study group which he was a part of and we fell in love 8 months later!

Whats the engagement story? He proposed our first night on the beach in the Dominican Republic-our first non-wine vacation EVER in the 3 years we dated so it was marvelous!  We stayed for 4 more days and enjoyed being engaged and spending time with each other in paradise and it was amazing!

Tell us about the wedding day and what you planned?   Our wedding day was the last day of a 6 day international adventure with 50 of our closest family and friends.  We thought that it was going to be difficult to top the insane amount of fun we had been having, but it turned out that the wedding day was the absolute best day for John and I because of how personal and special all of the arrangements and details of the ceremony and reception were:  Beginning with me walking down the aisle in my mother’s wedding dress to the Wedding Processional song from The Sound of Music, our vows we wrote for each other, the white horses we arrived on to our reception,  the bluegrass band who played until the sun set over the sherry vineyards, the fantastic dinner which John’s mother beautifully sang the blessing over beforehand, the fabulous band who kept us all dancing our pants off (literally for some guests) until the wee hours of the morning, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful and perfect wedding day!

How was the cake?   Well….visually the cake wasn’t what I had in mind (it was the element that proved to be the most difficult to arrange with a foreign vendor), but it was one of the most delicious cakes I’ve ever had.  We had many treats on the cake table (macaroons, marshmallows), but the cake balls were by far the best thing!  They were incredible!

One word to describe the married life?  Bliss
