Phil + Sindi {Married}

11.11.11  – {St Louis Hotel}  new orleans

Phil – One word to describe Sindi – Remarkable
Sindi – One word to describe Phil – Genorous

How did you two meet? – Thru casual lunch-time conversation during Sindi’s lunch break at Casey Moore’s Oyster House & they were lunch times that were also with others friends with cocktails served by Phil.
What is the engagement story? – Sindi and myself had gone out for dinner and drinks one evening. She had to be at work early in the morning, so she headed to her house and I went to mine. I’d been thinking about asking her to marry me for awhile and I just couldn’t wait to ask for her hand in marriage. I called her that very night and asked her over the phone. Sindi said “Yes” and I gave her my dad’s wedding band as an engagement ring as soon as I saw her next.

Tell us about your wedding day and what you plannned! – We live in Phoenix, Arizona and decided to tie the knot in the best city in the world… NEW ORLEANS!!! Sindi had never been there before and my mother’s family is from there and I lived in Lafayette for about 6 years. The 2 of us and 36 of our friends and family flew there from all different places in the country to celebrate a truly wonderful day. We got married at the Hotel St. Louis in the French Quarter on 11/11/11 and had the whole hotel to ourselves. We also had a traditional New Orleans 2nd line parade through the Quarter right after the ceremony to start our marriage off right!

Phil – a wedding memory you will never forget – Standing at the altar and waiting for Sindi to come down the aisle with her father. The anticipation and anxiousness were so hard to bear. When I finally saw her walking down the aisle it was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen in my life. That memory runs thru my mind every day and will never fade.

Sindi- a wedding memory you will never forget – Everything leading up to the wedding was almost too much to handle. The wedding and reception themselves were so much fun, but it is really hard to look back and remember individual instances. Being in New Orleans and experiencing the city remains in my memory constantly. Also, having dinner with my in-laws the day after we got in to New Orleans was a truly memorable night that won’t be forgotten.

Lucas & Laura {engaged}

Afton Villa Gardens  {St. Franciscville }

Lucas – One word to describe Laura – Beautiful
Laura – One word to describe Lucas – Clever

How did you two meet?
We met in prison. Really. In 2007, Lucas clerked at the Attorney General’s Office where I work. We actually had our first conversation during a tour of Angola State Penitentiary. We rode around in one of those white prison busses with the bars on the windows. Lucas mostly kept to himself and was the quiet guy on the bus! So after lunch I approached him on the front porch of the warden’s ranch house for some friendly conversation. I think opened with something extremely generic like, “So, how do you like working at the AG’s office?” Which I no doubt cursed myself for not thinking of something more interesting.

What’s the engagement story?
We had planned a trip to Paris and Italy in September 2010. Our first destination was Paris. On the afternoon on our first day in Paris, we visited the Eiffel Tower. Lucas seemed nervous to go up, but I thought it was because he was just not keen on heights. I told him that since I had already been to the top, we really didn’t need to go up this time. He insisted that we go up and suggested we go up to the observation deck that was about half-way up the tower. Once we got up, we could see the whole city in every direction. He asked me what my favorite view was and I pointed out the amazing rooftops of the Latin Quarter. After walking around a bit more, I saw that he was standing in the spot I said was my favorite. I went up next to him and told him how happy I was to be there with him. He stood behind me, hugged me and told me that he loved me and was happy to be there with me as well …then he turned me around to face him and told me that I would make him the happiest man on earth if I would marry him. He got down on one knee and pulled out the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen! I said yes! We celebrated with a night of drinks outside a busy Parisian tavern and so began a wonderful “engagement vacation” through the dreamy streets of Paris and the vibrant cities of Italy! It was absolutely perfect!

What are you two planning for the big day? ideas, colors, themes, locations?
The wedding will be at the Academy of the Sacred Heart Chapel and the reception will be at the Audubon Golf Clubhouse. Since it will be the week after Easter, we will have a spring color palette with pinks, yellows and oranges and flowers everywhere!

Patrick & Bridget {Married}

{ Benachi House } .  New Orleans .

Patrick – One word to describe Bridget  – Trans-formative
Bridget – One word to describe Patrick -  Noble

How did you two meet?   We met while working at the W in the spring of 2006. Both of us were in F&B, he as a chef and I as a server.  We were just friends, at first and hung out off and on for months.  Then on Valentines night of 2007 we were hanging out at Vic’s, our usual hangout, after getting slaughtered at work. I don’t remember what brought it on, but Patrick leaned over and high school kissed me!  It was so sweet and unexpected!  After that, no china in the kitchen was safe when he was around.  I started dropping everything!  I quit the hotel so that we could date without a conflict of interests (he was a supervisor), and we’ve been together ever since.

What’s the engagement story?  Patrick’s proposal was so sweet and sincere.  He came into the living room after I had gotten off of work one night.  I was still in ratty work clothes, eating supper and watching TV.  Patrick sat down on the sofa opposite me and started telling me that he didn’t want to be all fancy about it and that he thought most men tried too hard, and before I knew it, he handed me a box.  He said “I wanted to ask you when we were doing what we always do, just being us.  So how about bumming around the house with me for the next 50 or 60 years?”  I opened the box and was speechless.  A gorgeous  blue topaz set in a ring of diamonds.  He asked if my stammering was a yes and I said “Of course it’s a yes”.  Patrick then proceeded to fall asleep!  At first I was a little taken aback, but he later told me that he had been so nervous and anxious over what I would say, that he fell asleep in pure relief!

Tell us about your wedding day!  It was magical.  Almost like it was happening to someone else.  I felt so beautiful and wonderful – I’ve never been so happy in my life.  Agnes did our hair and Kerry helped with my makeup.  My bridesmaids and Kerry and Mary were so patient with me as I was getting ready and began to get nervous.  I will never forget the way I felt when I saw Patrick for the first time that day. As if everything was suddenly right with the world.  Having those dearest to us there was so special and right .   I knew that the spirits of our family and friends were watching over us as well.  Our ceremony was so meaningful and Norman was a very handsome, priestly officiant.  The funniest part was when I went to throw the bouquet and had to cajole my friends to come and try to catch it!  I tossed, and everyone backed away!  The food was marvelous and Paul’s cake was amazing!  The wedding was everything everyone said – not perfect, but ours!  And it was over so fast!  I didn’t want the party to end, but by the end of it I was so tired, I could barely stay on my feet!

{i love it when this happens….}

Todd & Amanda {engaged!}

Locations: Along the  dreamy shore in Sausalito  and some fun city shots  in the Western Addition San Francisco;)

Amanda – one word to describe Todd: convivial
Todd – One word to Describe Amanda: Exquisite

How did you two meet?
we met at work (ad agency) and had our first meal at a sausalito diner for lunch.

Whats the engagement story? {from (toddplusamanda.us) }
Amanda and I left San Francisco for a week-long vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii. I had the ring in my backpack during the commute overseas and couldn’t wait to give it to her.
We arrived at night, got settled in our beautiful boutique hotel in the small town of Volcano, HI. On the next morning (day two) we set out to explore Volcano National Park which, that’s right, was just next door to our hotel. While Amanda was in the shower, I packed up my backpack with a bottle of champagne and put it on ice to keep it cold during our day in the park. I had no idea exactly where I’d pop the question – but I knew I wanted it to be in a remote location away from the crowds and a place with a fantastic view.
We toured the park all day by car, by hike and through a cave…the entire time I was looking for the perfect place to do it – NOT ONCE did it happen. We went back to the hotel and the now warm champagne went back in the fridge.
Day three came along, I put the champagne back on ice and retuned it to the backpack. That day we set out for the most amazing waterfall in Hawaii – Akaka Falls. Guess what happened? Not a good place to propose – too many people around and no places for privacy. We next set out towards the north rim of the island on our way for the next hotel which was in Kona (about a 4 hour drive).
We stopped half-way to check out Waipi’o Valley which we’d heard great things about. It’s a historic valley where the natives have resided for hundreds of years and the location of the ancient grass palace of the kings. We drove our 4×4 Jeep down the extremely steep and curvy road to the black sand beach that rested below. The first thing we saw as we got out of the car was a family of wild horses that walked right by us!!! It was magical to say the least.
We walked across the mile stretch of beach and then set up the mountainside for a sturdy hike in search of a view. By this time, Amanda was wondering why I was quiet…..but she didn’t say anything. I was busy trying to think of the perfect things to say for the big event. We found the perfect precipice on the side of the mountain, overlooking the beach, when I decided it was time to lay down a blanked and take out some picnic items….one of which was the bottle of chilled champagne (note – it was still on ice!).
Amanda said “Wow, you brought champagne?!?!”. And I said “Yup, it’s to celebrate what I’m about to do”. I then professed my love, my desire to be with her for the rest of my days on earth…as well as a few other things that I’d been brewing up for the last few days (for her ears only)…then got down on one knee with the beach and ocean behind me, the mountain and my beautiful soon-to-be-bride in front of me and took out the ring to ask for her hand.
She said “I WILL”…..and the rest is history!:)

Tell us about your wedding day and what you are planning!
our wedding is at an old, historical ranch on the central coast of california. we’re planning an outdoor ceremony with a party in a barn from the late 1700s! we love funk music, so there will definitely be a funk band and we want to tie in the old country charm of the ranch with our small details…lacey, rustic, vintage decor and the more unique, the better! we’re hoping for tons of dancing at our wedding and are not only planning a fun night, but hopefully a very fun memorable weekend getaway for all of our family and friends!

T&A! ya’ll are quite the dream team;)Thank you again for sharing the love;)

{I’ll be back in San Fran mid January if anyone in photoland wants to dream up a shoot ! }
